The Pelikan Souveran M405 is a medium-small sized and relatively lightweight, luxury fountain pen which features an 14 carat gold nib with full rhodium plating giving a silver-coloured finish. 

The striped barrel body of the M405 is made from celluloid acetate which is a cotton derivative and so each one is slightly different to each other, much like wood has different knots and patterns.

The black parts of the pen are made from high quality resin, which has a sheen and is strong and lightweight.  The metal trim of the pen is palladium plated.
